Underdogs Gallery has an undergoing exhibition called Arquivo (Archive) that visitors are able to attend until the 30th of December. As the name suggests the collection showcases pieces encompassed in the last ten years of the life of the UD platform from 100 Portuguese and international artists and collectives.
The exhibition serves as another extension of the celebration of the ten years of the Underdogs platform as an important anchor and diffuser of contemporary art and its importance in the art world.
"Arquivo" opens to the public an extensive archive by more than 100 artists and collectives and shares a glimpse on the evolution of Underdogs and its associated artists through the years. The exhibition is curated by Alexandre Farto aka Vhils and Pauline Foessel which emphasizes the multiplicity of mediums, techniques, and approaches from the myriad of the selected artists. Arquivo aims to shed a light on emerging and established creators as well as promoting symbiotic relationships between Portuguese and international cultural production. Ultimately, "Arquivo" is a celebration of the past by looking brightly into the future which also counts with nine integrally new editions.
Simultaneously, Pedrita Studio has an exhibition - "Looking For Rita". The exhibition is inspired by Rita Hayworth, a famous actress of the golden age of cinema. Pedrita explores the manipulation of appearance and fabrication of images linked to Hollywood icons.
Pssst: If you're looking for a last-minute gift, Underdogs is selling tiles from the Geometric Dove collection from Shepard Fairey, a renowned graphic and street artist that broke into world recognition during Obama's campaign in 2008.
